Barcelona Food Experience

Hi.

Welcome to Barcelona Food Experience! I'm on a mission to find good food in the city, and share it with you. I hope you can find something you like!

Food Touring with Barcelona Eat Local - Discovering a different side of Barcelona

Barcelona Eat Local does a different food tour. Many tours focus on the more touristy areas of Gotico and Born, whereas Barcelona Eat Local has a tour focused on Sant Antoni and Poble Sec. I really like both neighbourhoods but because I live relatively far away I don’t go there often enough and there are plenty of places to discover there.

We start off at Mercat de Sant Antoni with our wonderful (local) guide who tells us about the market and about the history of the old market that is currently under renovation. We get to try food too of course and with this nice aperitif we continue to the next stop, a charming wine shop with a tasting room. We try a delicious cava (I am a big fan of cava!) with cheese perfectly paired with it.

From there we go up to Poble Sec, making a couple of stops on the way where our tour guide tells us interesting historical bits and pieces of the area. We are heading to a place that has been on my go-to list for a long time: El Sortidor! I had looked forward to this place in particular and it did not disappoint: it is such a charming restaurant with beautifully leaded windows, an old-style fridge made of wood that was used a long long time ago, and a lovely atmosphere. We had the bravas here and they were honestly among the best ones I have ever had..!

The next place is a favourite restaurant of mine in Barcelona. It is called Ca l’Isidre and they specialise in local, market-fresh food with an added bonus of excellent service. It is Woody Allen’s favourite restaurant when he visits Barcelona, and there are plenty of other famous people that stop by here. They have recently renovated and it looks even more gorgeous now.

The last stop on the tour is a sweet stop, a Barcelona classic with a beautiful interior. It rounds up a perfect tour! A fair warning though: make sure you join the tour hungry, because there will be PLENTY to eat! To sign up for the tour and read more about it click here
