This place is an institution in Barcelona. It’s popular with tourists but with locals too, so don’t let that scare you off. When it opens at lunchtime the bar fills up to the brim, but if you can you should head for the dining room and get a table. You might have to share it with someone, but don’t worry, after a bottle of wine or so you can even make some friends..!
There isn’t any menu (at least I haven’t seen one) but the waiter asks for any preferences and then starts serving you plate after plate of tasty tapas. So good!
IN A NUTSHELL
Atmosphere: Fun and lively. One of the waiters is hilarious (helps if you know a bit of Spanish though). He’s worked there for 25 years or so and you can see how much he loves his work.
Recommended: The potato tortilla is probably the best I’ve ever had. The clams are great too.
Specifics: The tapas change according to what’s fresh and in season.
Reservations: Book if you want to have a table in the back (instead of sitting by the bar).
