Espai Egg - Hidden Hub for Gastronomic Creativity
I am a huge fan of places that are hidden away in neighbourhoods that I love. I also adore places that transmit the passion of the owners. These two things unite in the beautiful Espai Egg on a quiet street in the Raval.
There are places where you immediately feel welcome and Espai Egg is one of them. Already at the entrance there are signs that welcome both bikes and dogs. The decoration inside reminds me of cool spaces in Berlin, with second-hand pieces of furniture, a blackboard with a healthy menu and scattered design magazines on the communal tables. The vibe is relaxed and invites to sit and stay for a long, long time.
The food is prepared by The Deli Kitchen, and it is the perfect choice for this kind of place. The menu is short but interesting and beautifully prepared and presented. And it's all healthy too! I had an avocado toast with salmon and it came with beautiful edible flowers and a flavourful sauce. I also ordered a Golden Latte: a hot turmeric drink made with vegetable milk and cinnamon. There are beautiful baked goods on display too.
Espai Egg is more than a café and a lunch place though. In the back a co-kitchen space with a beautiful patio opens up, and it can be rented by groups. There are also plenty of workshops arranged here: How to make vegan cheese, Fermentation Workshop, Yoga & Brunch, Italian dinner + movie, Craft Beer pairings... Check out their calendar here!
