Have you heard about guerrilla dining? When cool chefs cook up magnificent dinners in unexpected places? You can experience this in Barcelona too! Look up Foodie Pop Up Experience and keep an eye out for their upcoming dinners. The location and the chef is secret until a few hours before the event, but you will find out the theme of the dinner on their webpage.

I have been to a few of these dinners, and they’re always amazing. The last one I attended was branded Kama Sucre, the name is already a pretty good indicator of what was going on between the four walls of the location for this particular dinner. It was food porn at its finest!

The chef behind this dinner was Anjalina Chugani who I have admired from a distance on social media already since some time ago (check out Anjalina's inspiring website here). Finally I got to meet her and she was even more wonderful in person! Anjalina is a creative genius when it spicing up things in the kitchen. She is of British-Indian origin and she brings a freshness and flair to the local kitchen that is unprecedented. She is schooled in the prestigious Hoffmann, but this lady brings her heart and her creativity to the table and into the dishes in a way that you can feel it in your taste buds and leave with a smile on your face and a warm feeling inside. And it’s not just the spices my dear friends!

But back to Kama Sucre. When we arrived we were introduced to an expert cocktail maker who made magic with his World Class Spirits. I had a fantastic concoction made with gin, basil and egg white called Mediterranean Ten and it was SO good I could have had ten of them, just like the name suggests..! Luckily I didn’t because I was really looking forward to the food, too!

Here is what we ate:

Shot made of red bell pepper and strawberry with bacon and a touch of maple syrup: The summer had just arrived and with it the warm weather, and this was perfectly refreshing as a starter.
Hummus Ménage a Trois: One of my favorite dishes: beetroot, edamame & cilantro and pumpkin hummus. I particularly enjoyed the edamame hummus.
Spring rolls: Who doesn’t love food that you get to eat with your hands? This was fresh and crispy and came with delicious dips.
Haig Club Sexy Time: This was a dish that had an air of mystique to it. We were all blindfolded in order to enjoy this little dish with all of our senses. I don’t want to give away too many details but it involved chocolate..!
Apple pie samosa: I love apple pie and I love samosa. Here they were merged into one and had a wonderful dessert love child that came with a caramel sauce and a syringe to infuse them with Ciroc (premium vodka). Fantastic.
Birramisu: One of the sponsors of the event, Alhambra 1925, was used to give flavor to the tiramisu. I’ve seen this kind of fusion on other menus in the city and I was intrigued. A hit with beer lovers!
Cold brew and cardamom mousse: I’m not a coffee drinker but I do appreciate the taste, and this mousse was perfection.
Macaroons: No introduction necessary for macaroons I believe. When they’re home-made they are fantastic!
Cake: the showstopper of the evening was the massive cake that came in with sparklers. A sparkly end to a sparkly evening!

All the dishes were paired with Gramona wines and cavas, my personal favorite was the sweet Gewürtztraminer, I’m a big fan of this grape.
