LeccaBaffi – Visiting a New Italian Deli!
We were invited to visit the recently opened LeccaBaffi, an Italian deli located in Eixample. The place looks inviting already from the outside with large open windows, benches outside and one of those large illuminated signs inside that we love so much. Behind the counter there are beautiful shelves filled with exotic-looking bottles and cans.
In the back you can find more shelves stocked with Italian delicatessen: impressive looking vinegars, high quality olive oil (we had a taste and it was mind-blowing), pastas, sauces… There is a fridge too, with Italian craft beers, cheeses, and cured meats.
But I can’t keep my eyes off the prepared food in the large counter at the entrance. There is plenty to choose from, and everything is freshly made in the kitchen in the back. There are foods from different regions, all competing in colors and tastes. There is a pizza oven too, and the pizzas that come out from there are gourmet style pizzas with a crust that’s been fermenting for hours and hours. Add some truffle oil and good quality cheese and you have a winner..!
There are sweets too obviously, we tasted panettone that we dipped in a creamy mascarpone and it was divine… Whoever came up with that idea is a genius. I had my eye on the cannoli too..!
The staff is tremendously nice and helpful, and even though the place has been open for only a few weeks there were people coming and going all the time. It’s well worth a visit, and LeccaBaffi is another sign that this neighborhood is up-and-coming right now!
