Picnic is one of my brunch favorites. The place is small, but it’s ok as long as you make sure to book a table beforehand. The food is fun and the dishes are very big. They are famous for their eggs Benedict and their fried green tomatoes (they are among the very few places in the city that serve them), and of course their pink lemonade (with or without vodka). Their desserts are magnificent, especially the cheesecake.
IN A NUTSHELL
Atmosphere: Young and easy-going.
Recommended: The drinks that are served in mason jars, the cakes, the eggs Benedict, the salmon on rye, the tacos…
Specifics: The place is not as busy during weekdays, so if you’re struggling getting up early enough for brunch then go during the week instead. Many of the brunch items are on the lunch/dinner menu too.
Reservations: A must.
