Rooftop Tea - an unforgettable indulgent experience

When I received the invitation for a Rooftop Tea event I was so excited. This was something totally different! It takes place in a secret location in Sant Antoni, which makes it even more thrilling. And I can assure you that it met my expectations and even exceeded them. What an experience!

At 17.00 sharp I rang the bell to an apartment close to Mercat Sant Antoni, and was taken up to the sixth floor, to the roof of a building where a beautiful terrace opened up to us with beautiful views over the city. We were going to sit outside, in December, but for those of you who live in Barcelona know that it's not really an issue, if you know what I mean. And there were heaters too.

The table was set so beautifully and it was filled with so many delicacies. I felt like I was attending a five o'clock tea at Claridge's in London, but hip Barcelona style. The host, Angela, is a Londoner herself and she is so lovely. She puts so much effort in making everything beautiful, delicious and perfect, and makes sure that every guest feels at home. And that is really the essence here; feeling at home. I  could have stayed for hours. I didn't know anybody beforehand, but everybody was so friendly and equally as excited about the event as I was.

There was SO MUCH FOOD. It was all so beautifully presented and picturesque, and even though I had only eaten breakfast that day to be prepared I just did not have as much room in my belly as I would have liked. And there was plenty of drinks too, and the glasses were filled to the brim constantly. You know when you're at a nice restaurant and the waiters fill your glass all the time and lose count of how much you've been drinking and you get a little boozy..? Kind of like that, hihi..!

But if you're not into alcohol that's perfectly fine too, there is obviously tea too (really good jasmine tea!), it's afternoon tea after all! And the atmosphere doesn't require being tipsy, it's all just really fun and homey.

So what did we eat and drink? Except for cava and tea we also had mulled wine with rum, so good... And there was so much to eat. Cute little triangle sandwiches with cream cheese and salmon and a few other savory foods, scones with clotted cream and jam, mince pies, cookies, chocolate brownie, chocolate cake, cupcakes, meringue... And much more.

So how does one participate in one of these amazing events? I was introduced to Trip4Real, a webpage very similar to Airbnb but for experiences. Locals share all sorts of activities and experiences with other locals or tourists, and in Barcelona there are so many different options. One of them is the  Rooftop Tea Party, here is the link so you can sign up! I enjoyed it tremendously, and I'd love to go again. I'm thinking of adding it as one of the activities for an upcoming bachelorette party..! Even if you'd sign up to go by yourself you'd have an amazing time, I can assure you. Try it!
