Best Romantic Restaurants

Out of ideas for Valentine’s Day? Or any other romantic day? I’ve received lots of questions for where to go for a romantic dinner in Barcelona, so here are my suggestions:

Xemei - You can’t go wrong with Italian on Valentine’s Day, that’s just the way it is. Xemei has so much atmosphere, and it’s very cosy. The food is amazing and the staff is friendly. Sharing dishes and a dessert and having a couple of glasses of wine sets you back about 35-40 euros per person. Paseo de la Exposición 85.

Xemei Barcelona

Pepa Pla - It used to be a bookshop, and the owners have kept a lot of the old deco. The food is great, and do let the staff guide you, they are really good at picking interesting options. Read my review here. Aribau 41.

Racó d’en Cesc - One of my favourite restaurants in Barcelona. Most tables are far from each other so you get plenty of privacy, and the tables are big so you don’t feel cramped. Their sommelier is amazing, and they bring you a BOOK with all of their wines (they also do beer pairings and have a huge set of beers available). The food is very local and very comforting. Read more here. Diputació 201.

Cellarer - These guys have a wine shop and now a bar too, where you can get MANY many wines by the glass (and half glass) and have something to eat too. Mallorca 211.

Can Recasens - Are you in the mood for love but also cheese? Go here. It’s an amazingly cosy space with many different rooms, candles everywhere, and a menu packed with cheeses in every form, cured meats, salads and good wines. The prices here are excellent. Rambla del Poblenou 102.

La Vinateria del Call - A bit touristy, but very cosy. Go here for lots of good atmosphere, tapas and good wines. Carrer de Sant Domènec del Call 9.

Flax & Kale Passage Barcelona

Flax & Kale Passage - Didn’t see that one coming did ya? If you want something healthy but some atmosphere too, Flax & Kale Passage has a few booths where you can get some peace and quiet from the outside world. Sant Pere Més Alt 31-33.

La Carassa - These guys are experts on fondues, and it has the feeling of an Austrian ski cottage. Low ceiling beams, candles and hand-made lace table cloths. Brosolí 1.

Bar Mut- This place is tiny (and not the cheapest) but if you score a good seat you’re in for a treat. Wonderful dishes to share and great staff. Read more here. Pau Claris 192.

For cocktails:

Les Gens Que J’Aime - Go through a tiny little door, down a narrow set of stairs and you are in a beautiful little bar with vintage furniture, jazz playing in the background and old photos on the wall. Go early so you get the best spot under the stairs. València 286.

33 by Santi Ortiz - Wonderful tiny little cocktail bar where you get VERY elaborated cocktails (for a good price). And a welcome drink! Av de Mistral 33.

Dr Stravinsky 3 (1 of 1).jpg

Dr Stravinsky - In the Born you can find this crazy laboratory of a bar, the cocktails are very good and the deco very quirky. Read my review here. Carrer dels Mirallers, 5.

Collage - Fun cocktails in a quirky environment, here you can chill in a vintage sofa and indulge in colourful drinks. Carrer dels Consellers, 4
