About.Salmon - A Gracia Newcomer
A pretty newcomer has arrived in Gracia, About.Salmon! Gracia needed a place just like this: a cozy little getaway from all the hustle and bustle. The space is really attractive and inviting and decorated with excellent taste.
About.Salmon is located on a small side street very close to Travessera de Gracia, and it makes it a little oasis in the neighborhood. When the weather gets warm the windows open fully and you can sit by the window sill if you want.
You might already guess from the name what the specialty is here: salmon. There is plenty of innovation applied on the menu, with many interesting options. The first courses consist of different types of tartars, of which we tried the Red Tartar with salmon, strawberry, avocado and tomato with herbs. You can also choose a tartar tasting with 3 different types of tartar.
Other interesting starters is the salmon in avocado mousse that comes with a mint soy sauce with pickled celery and crispy parmesan, and one of their popular dishes that is the cucumber gazpacho with spiced feta cheese and smoked salmon. I particularly enjoyed the smoked salmon with beets (below).
Among the main courses the French Style Onion creme soup with smoked salmon and croutons and fresh herbs stands out, as does the tasty salmon burger made with brioche bread and a peanut sauce, and served with baked sweet potato. I loved the salmon cooked at low temperature with caramelized pear, steamed asparagus and teriyaki sauce.
They have a good lunch deal too that changes frequently that is very much worth checking out. Also make sure to save some room for dessert and a coffee: they have opted for excellent coffee from local favorite roaster Slow Mov.
It’s exciting to have a new restaurant with a fun concept like this in Gracia, and where the food is delicious, too. Don’t miss this cozy gem!
