Amassame - Fresh Italian Food
Sants is a really hot neighbourhood at the moment, and you can find true culinary gems here. A fairly recently opened restaurant called Amassame is winning the hearts of many a food lover, and we can see why. The place is humble and cute with two floors, particularly the top floor is gorgeous with its beautiful light. Coming in you can hear chatter and joking in Italian from the kitchen, and that is a promising sign when you are in for the real deal.
The menu is very appealing: sometimes I shy away from Italian food because on occasion it can be a bit heavy, but in Amassame this is not the case. They focus is on good, locally sourced ingredients and plenty of healthy dishes. We started off with mortadella with truffle, and it came with the crispiest, lightest grissini I’ve ever had. We opted for a second starter too: a bresaola with stracciatella (the inside of the burrata) and rocket salad. Perfection!
If you are looking for pasta there are many tasty dishes to choose from, and a true star here is the pizza: the base is made of sourdough that has fermented for 48 hours and it is very light, even crispy. We had a fresh vegetarian pizza with beet, mushrooms, spinach and other veggies. We also shared a seafood pasta: all of their pastas are made with organic flours and eggs. They also have gluten-free pastas and vegan options.
I loved the desserts: we shared a Panna Cotta (I loooove Panna Cotta) with honey, lemon and Grappa, and of course we had to try the tiramisú..! Both were delicious, as expected.
Amassame has a great homey feeling, it is easy to approach, the staff is lovely and there is a good atmosphere in the restaurant. I love how all the details in the menu and the dishes are so well thought of, because, in the end, it is the details that matter!
