Atlantis Gastrobar - Keep This Bar a Secret
Atlantis Gastrobar is just that kind of secret that you want to keep to yourself and only reveal to your closest friends, and even better, taken them there and surprise them. It’s the kind of place that is just off the beaten path, in Sant Antoni, on a side street away from Parlament, where there isn’t much else interesting, really. It is very small, and when you enter through the doors you become completely embraced by the place.
As the name Atlantis Gastrobar suggests, seafood is the hero here. I am a fan of seafood that is uncomplicated, without adornments, but when you find a place like this you dive right in. Here seafood is played with, made interesting and fun. There is a slight Italian nudge to the menu, but just a touch: such as the marvelous Spumante that you can pair with the big, fresh oysters.
On our visit we opted for the scallops in an Indian-inspired sauce after devouring the oysters. Eating them has a little trick to it that the staff will explain. I found the mix of flavors very intriguing.
The smoked sardines came beautifully presented, and their original take on Gildas are a must. The shrimp ceviche with Bloody Mary is also a bestseller, but if BM:s ain’t your thing there are four (!) other types of ceviche to choose from.
Atlantis Gastrobar is small which means very intimate, and you’re bound to engage in a chat with the (very friendly) staff or a fellow customer. And that’s what this place is all about: a friendly hangout where the food speaks for itself.
Atlantis Gastrobar, Carrer Marques de Campo Sagrado 12, Barcelona (Sant Antoni).
