Barna Brew - Fabulous Food Paired with Unique Craft Beers
Barna Brew is a cozy brewpub in Sant Antoni that I had my eyes on from the moment it opened two years ago. There’s something about distressed walls and a relaxed atmosphere that really invites to stay and hang out for a while. Barna Brew is not your typical brewpub where only beer geeks (my husband and partner is a confessed one, so no criticism whatsoever to them! :) hang out, it attracts people from near and far, and has become somewhat of a Sant Antoni neighborhood hangout.
The craft beer brewed here has a Belgian flair but always with Catalan roots, and makes the concept very unique. You can order a beer flight and try several of them to get a good feeling of what they offer. Or just have lots of pints if you’re thirsty..! One of their seasonal beers recently is a thrilling saison on tap with Sichuan pepper and orange blossom, a sophisticated beer that pairs well with several of the food items on the menu.
Because Barna Brew isn’t just beer, which many a visitor isn’t aware of. The menu is far from any pub fare I can assure you. It’s packed with interesting items such as duck confit, ceviche, Belgian stew and many more dishes that deserve a special mention. The cheese board and the charcuterie board are packed with Catalan delicacies, and the pastrami sandwich (above) uses top-notch pastrami from Rooftop Smokehouse. The food here has been a well-kept secret, many come in for a beer and don’t even realize how much more they have on offer.
Keep an eye out for all the events that are organized here: tours in the brewery every Saturday, live jazz on Sundays, beer launches, art exhibitions, the Beermut on weekends and much more. Barna Brew has so much to offer and is a truly unexpected gem of a bar in Sant Antoni.
