Best Old School in Barcelona
If you're looking for a restaurant in Barcelona that is a true blast from the past, here is a list of my favorites. They all serve delicious food in an old-school environment. Obviously very few of them have a website. Some of them do not even have a name..!
La Cova Fumada – It’s so old it doesn’t even have a name on the door. Weird hours but cheap and such delicious tapas. More info here.
Carrer del Baluart 56
Bar Mundial – Small and crammed but the tapas (mostly seafood) is spot on. Read more here.
Plaza Sant Augusti Vell 1
Casa Mari y Rufo – A family owned business, which means occasional arguments but it adds to the charm. Fun and cosy. Blog post here.
Carrer de Freixures 11
Bodega Manolo –The walls are covered with huge old wine barrels. Their anarchistic (black) bravas are to die for.
Carrer del Torrents de les Flors 101
Can Margarit – Feels like a big cave, very atmospheric. Free wine from barrels at the entrance. Short menu but the real deal.
Carrer de la Concòrdia 21
Casa Lucio – The tapas bar at the entrance is great, but the restaurant in the back is even better.
Carrer de Viladomat 59
Granja M Viader – Long lines on Saturday mornings, but worth a wait for great grilled sandwiches (bikinis), hot chocolate, a cheese platter or anything else you might fancy straight from the farms. Oh, and they invented the Cacaolat!
Carrer Xuclà 4-6
