Kashaya Kombucha - Respecting Nature
In Poblenou, you can find Kashaya Kombucha, a kombucha lab that makes what honestly might be the best kombucha I have ever had. I discovered their kombucha in a cafe here in Barcelona, and I fell head over heels in love with their product. When the team behind the brand, Fern and Christopher, invited me for a visit, I was delighted.
Kashaya Kombucha makes organic kombucha through cold-brewing, following the moon cycles, in an eco-friendly environment. I was very impressed seeing the production facilities, prepared with sustainably sourced cork to insulate the space and reformed with eco-friendly chalk-based paints.
The kombucha prepared here is simply marvelous. The level of sophistication is through the roof, aren’t we a bit tired of the boring flavors we get everywhere? Kashaya Kombucha makes flavors with plenty of care, and combine fruits with plants and herbs, and create exciting mixes with an idea behind it, including Ayurvedic influences.
It is challenging to choose a favorite from their kombucha range, but I have a soft spot for the Creative Mind with lavender, rosemary, and mint. The Solar Flower with elderflower and orange blossom is another beautiful mix. I am also in favor of the fact that the kombucha is not overly vinegary as kombucha sometimes can be: the Kashaya Kombucha is smooth and balanced in flavor.
In their lab in Poblenou they also have a tap room, and I really recommend getting in touch with the team to go there for a visit and get to know the lovely team behind Kashaya and to try their booch. The couple is continuously working on new exciting recipes, and they have seasonal blends available too. We are pretty lucky to have Kashaya Kombucha in Barcelona!
