I'm Maria, and I love to eat. 18 years ago, I left my home country of Finland and moved to Barcelona. I was supposed to stay only 4 months, oops..!
After a few years here in Barcelona, I turned my passion for food and photography from a hobby into a full-time job: I have worked as a food photographer for many years now, taking photos of mouth-watering dishes around the city for my clients. I'm a Graduate of Economics Sciences and Business Studies and have a Master's Degree in Food & Product Photography. I am a co-founder of BFE ! Digital Media, an online marketing and digital strategy agency where we work hand-in-hand with businesses whose values align with ours.
I love to eat, talk, write about food and take photos of it. When I'm not eating, I'm thinking about what I'll eat next. New restaurants keep popping up every day, and I'm working my way through the good ones as fast as I can, always with a camera in hand..!
When someone starts a conversation with "Could you recommend me a place…" that’s my cue: I just won't shut up! I want everyone to find those unique Barcelona gems where everything comes together: fantastic food, excellent staff, and a magical atmosphere.

My mission with Barcelona Food Experience since the start has been to discover those unique places with something special. You leave the restaurant not only with a full belly but also with a full heart. Authenticity is key, and one of my favorite aspects of my job is conveying the passion the chefs and owners have for what they do to the guests and my readers. Additionally, I aim to provide visibility for restaurants, cafes, bars, businesses, and brands, supporting projects with that special something and highlighting the fantastic people behind them, sharing their stories. When these two elements come together, magic happens!
