Eating well at Batuar - Cotton House Hotel

I was struggling to find a nice restaurant to celebrate my birthday. There are obviously lots of great restaurants, but I couldn't decide on one. Then I remembered seeing photos from the Batuar restaurant in the Cotton House Hotel and hearing great things about it, so we did a reservation for lunch there. And it was just what I had been looking for!

I'd love to stay at Cotton House Hotel some day, it's absolutely beautiful. It's fairly recently opened, and the decoration is gorgeous. When we arrived we were shown up some gorgeous stairs and to the restaurant on the first floor. I felt like I was in a glossy magazine when we stepped inside! It has a bit of a colonial feel, and the large windows towards the beautiful plant-filled terrace bring a lot of light inside. 

Then to the most important part: the food. There was a menu del dia to choose from, but since we were celebrating we decided to pick items from their standard menu. First we got an aperitif on the house: foie gras with mango, mmmmm..! Then we had chosen dishes to share: foie gras toasts with port wine and three different types of croquetas to start with, a duck canelón with truffle and octopus with beetroot as mains, and finally for dessert chocolate sushi (!) and natilla. I also got a little birthday cake with a candle and everything! Haven't blown out a birthday candle in 20 years or so..!

After lunch we moved to the bar to have cocktails (afternoon cocktails, yay!). They have a nice list of cocktails, and I loved the one I ordered (called Ochorios). I can't wait for warmer weather to arrive so that we can go back and have cocktails on that beautiful terrace!
