Bodega Borras - a Restaurant with a Bodega Essence

Bodega Borràs is the essence of all the best things a food enthusiast is looking for, especially in Barcelona. The family of the two owners, brothers Roger and Adrià Muñoz, have had a family restaurant business for decades. They decided to open Bodega Borràs as a homage to tradition but with their own innovative and elegant touch.

The restaurant is beautiful, with a bodega-style entrance with high chairs that opens to a room with tables and a bar (if you score a seat there, you’re in luck!) and a larger table for a group next to a wall with wine barrels. On our visit, the restaurant is buzzing even though they’ve only been open for a couple of months. The team is casual but classy, and the atmosphere makes you feel welcome.

You’re likely to come across the brothers behind the bar, serving wines or the attractive dishes from the kitchen team. The wine list is carefully curated with many local options and exciting wines from elsewhere in Spain.

The food, oh, the food! Bodega Borràs showcases what local, seasonal gastronomy is when it is at its best. Exciting, succulent dishes that leave no one indifferent.

We started with Bloody Mary oysters (excellent). From there, we continued with their famous Gilda (it is not as you’d expect it to be!), the most perfect pan con tomate (you know that when it’s good, it’s really good..!), croquetas with grilled chicken and hand-cut jamón, tender pork with squid, a fantastic rice dish, and of course, the most delicious dessert to top it all off.

Bodega Borràs offers a great lunch deal (it is worth mentioning that they always have a rice dish option, including individual ones!), and every month, they organize a price-worthy wine-tasting event combined with dinner. This place is fantastic, and you’ll feel right at home.
