Casa Mari y Rufo - the Real Deal

Restaurante Casa Mari y Rufo is just next to the Mercat de Santa Caterina. From the outside it doesn’t look like much, but go to the little dining room in the back and you’ll see what it’s all about.

In the restaurant not much has changed the last decades, and they mix recipes of old classics with interesting new ideas without taking it too far. The restaurant is very popular and is always busy.

IN A NUTSHELL

Atmosphere: The tables are very tight together, but once you get your bottle of wine you forget all about it. If you arrive early you get the best tables in one of the corners.

Recommended: The seafood, in particular the clams, the monkfish and the grilled octopus. The food has that touch of recipes that’s been used since forever, and it’s all very tasty.

Specifics: The place is family run, and sometimes they argue in the kitchen..! But it’s all in good fun, and it adds to the atmosphere.
