Hotel Brummell - Cool, Tropical Modernism
I had been dreaming about staying at Hotel Brummell for ages, and what a joy it was when I finally got around doing it. This hotel is quite the gem in the Poble Sec neighborhood, close to everything and with so much charm.

Hotel Brummell is a unique boutique hotel with 20 rooms (see more info about the rooms here), just next to the Montjuïc park. It truly is an oasis, away from the busy streets in a quiet corner in Poble Sec. The interior is stunning, and the design team was inspired by their travels to Sri Lanka and “tropical modernism.” How cool is that?

The hotel offers an excellent breakfast prepared by the resident kitchen Funky Bakers (see photo above), and also snacks, fresh pastries, specialty coffee, and natural wines, available for both guests and locals. For guests you also have access to complimentary yoga classes in the beautiful yoga studio next door, bike rentals, or a massage.

We stayed in the Mountain Deluxe room on the 5th floor, with views over the Montjuïc park. Upstairs they also have a penthouse with a jacuzzi on the terrace! You can also opt for a Poolside room, with pretty views of the pool, terrace, and the city. The rooms are really lovely and quiet. You can see details of the rooms here.

On the first floor, you’ll find a beautiful pool area, with a sauna that we obviously had to try. It was absolutely perfect; we could book it just for us, and it was equipped with towels and a shower. I can’t wait to go back in the summer and enjoy the pool and the bar.

On the ground floor, next to the reception area, you can find the coolest gift shop I’ve seen in a long time, with unique gifts, for yourself or a friend. There is also an excellent honesty bar where you can have a snack or a drink at any time of the day. Even the vending machines on each floor have cool snacks!

On our visit, the first dish was a delicious pulled pork croqueta, and from there we ventured onward to a pork jowl taco with scallop and shrimp, and a Tom Kha Gai mussels that were wonderfully spicy. The next dish was a tasty and crispy tuna tataki with nori and an ajoblanco sauce and a meat dish that perfectly rounded up the menu. And of course, we had dessert, a lovely flan (I love how the flan is coming back to the menus!) that we paired with a glass of local, sweet wine.
And all of you, who like me are fans of hotel breakfasts, won’t be disappointed at Hotel Brummell. You can order from a menu, or choose the beautiful breakfast board.
