BFE loves: Las Muns
In Barcelona it is not unusual to see empanadas, but the ones from Las Muns really stand out from the crowd. In addition to being beautifully made there are also very elaborate and interesting flavours to choose from, forget all about boring old cheese-only fillings..! What about beer-infused pork with fresh oregano and apple and onion chutney, or dried tomato and provolone. There is even a sweet empanada with apple and cinnamon!
Are you vegetarian or vegan? No problem at all, there are options for you too, like the smoked tofu and quinoa empanada with an arabic spice mix. And even spicy ones like the Thai chicken.
The Muns are made fresh every day in their shop in Poble Nou, but there is most likely a Muns in your neighbourhood, since there are nine different little shops around the city. And keep an eye out for their food truck! There are good deals for delivery too, should you feel lazy and not want to leave your sofa. We visited their newly opened shop in Sarrià, and it is adorable, with an old creaky wooden floor and seats for you to sit down and enjoy your Muns with a cold beer or a soft drink.
The slogan for Las Muns is “The Heart-Made” empanada, and I couldn’t agree more. The receipes are elaborated, the shops are impeccable and they have that wonderful home-made taste to them. Don’t miss these delightful empanadas!
