Lasun -Authentic Nepalese Fare
Lasun wants to show Barcelona what authentic Nepalese food is, and if you’re curious, they will also tell you the story behind the dishes.
A lovely Nepalese couple, Subash and Kripa, have opened Lasun to share the best and most flavorful food Nepal has to offer. Some of the original recipes are quite spicy in Nepal, but fear not: here the spiciness level is taken down a notch to suit the local palate. But if spicy is your thing, just mention it to the staff, and they will be happy to spice things up.

Good quality ingredients are used here, but the prices are just perfect. You can get a lunch menu under 10 euros at the time of writing, and the dishes on the regular menu are all very reasonably priced. On my visit, I tried a bit of everything and loved the exciting and different flavors. You can choose from starters, woks, seasonal/festive dishes, grilled items, and a whole lot more. But one of the absolute showstoppers here is the momo. If you are not familiar with the term, momos are tasty (and addictive!) Nepalese dumplings that come with many different fillings. At Lasun, you can get veggie ones, chicken, pork, or lamb momos, and I loved every single one of them.

Another highlight on the menu was, without a doubt, the Haans ko Chhoyela: duck marinated with garlic, ginger, and chhoyela sauce, made on the barbecue. The meat was packed with flavor. The Chattamari was fascinating: a crepe that looked somewhat like a thin tortilla made with rice flour, black peas, egg, and minced meat.

Should you not eat meat you are covered here, there are many great vegan options on the menu. I loved one of the starters, the Badam Saadeko, which is peanuts marinated with spices, onion, garlic, and lime. Such a fascinating dish! The tofu curry was also delicious.

Lasun is friendly and perfect for when you want to try something authentic and new. I also warmly recommend asking the staff about the dishes, there is plenty of history behind both the place and the food.
