Mas Salagros Ecoresort - Escape to the Countryside

Dreaming about an escape to the countryside? I have just the plan for you. We visited Mas Salagros Ecoresort in Vallromanes, and it was an unforgettable experience.

Mas Salagros is the first 100% eco-friendly resort on the peninsula. There’s nothing but nature around it (it is located in a nature reserve), and it gives you a feeling of complete peace.

The hotel has two restaurants, and a wine bar, where organic and locally sourced produce is used to make tasty creations. Some of the ingredients are from their own garden! We had dinner in the 1497 restaurant: a tasting menu with wine pairings (organic wines only, obviously). It was such a lovely experience.

A few of my favorite dishes were the steak tartar, the strawberry gazpacho with prawns, cherry tomatoes and balsamic vinegar vinaigrette, and the boned lamb shoulder with wild mushroom stew, smoked polenta and tomatoes. The wine pairings were fascinating and contributed to a very unique experience.

As if fantastic food wasn’t enough, there is also a thermal spa on the premises..! You might be familiar with the AIRE Ancient Baths in Barcelona. Well, you can find this at Mas Salagros too! Our time in the spa was absolutely divine. It is located in an old farmhouse from the 15th century, and you’ll be moving through candle-lit spaces, from one bath to another. There are cold, warm and hot baths, steam rooms, saltwater baths, and much more for you to discover, and you can choose a massage to add to the bliss.

Close to the premises, there are plenty of hiking opportunities and two outdoor swimming pools. They arrange yoga classes and fun activities for kids. La Roca Village is relatively close too, should you feel like going shopping.

Mas Salagros is only 30 minutes from Barcelona by car, but if you don’t have a ride, fear not: you can take the train to Montmeló or Granollers, and a short taxi ride from there.

If you’re looking for a calming getaway from the city, then this is definitely it. I can’t wait to go back!
