This stunning restaurant is located inside the Sir Victor hotel and occupies most of the ground floor. There is an extensive bar area and a beautiful dining area just next to it, with an open kitchen you can peek into. We highly recommend sitting by the kitchen if you want to see some of the action behind the scenes: there is a cool bar seating situation where you can sit and enjoy your meal but also have a peek into how it’s prepared.

Mr Porter is a steakhouse, which means the menu is highly focused on meat. However, should you not be a carnivore, fear not: there are other options, too! Among the appetizers, I highly recommend the spicy yellowtail sashimi: it really is spicy and gives a fun kickstart to the meal. The fresh focaccia comes served with dips, and oysters are always a thrilling start to a beautiful meal. The beef tartare with beluga caviar is also a great option if you want to start your meal off with a bang.

The next stop on the menu is the carpaccios, with no less than seven different ones to pick from. Sea bass and tomato carpaccio? Roasted potato carpaccio with caviar? Roast beef? Take your pick. The salads are also highly appealing, such as the jumbo prawn salad with grilled corn, avocado, and dried chili sauce or the grilled octopus with Jerusalem artichoke and yellow ají.

But let’s dig into the meat, shall we? If you know your cuts, you’re in for a treat at Mr Porter. If you don’t, that’s okay too: most meat dishes indicate the weight so you can decide if you prefer to share or if you’re hungry enough to have a piece all to yourself. Take your pick from hanger steak, t-bone, Wagyu A5, rib-eye, New York strip, sirloin or skirt steak, and more. There are also ribs, lamb rack, osso buco, chateaubriand, chicken, and a few seafood items such as grilled lobster with herb butter, to name a few other dishes. You won’t be starved for options!

But what is a piece of meat without the sides? Picking a side dish is almost as exciting as choosing your main at Mr. Porter. You find the fries, of course, topped off with parmesan and with a side of basil aioli, but you can also opt for cauliflower Mac ‘n’ cheese, black truffle polenta, grilled sweet potato, tender stem broccoli, and other enticing sides.

You might be full after a meal like this, but leaving without dessert would be a shame. I highly recommend the Chocolate Explosion: this fun dish is served for two, and the presentation is quite stunning. If you’re in for something a little smaller, the popcorn creme brûlée is also a great one.

What about the drinks, you ask? The wine list at Mr Porter is refreshing in terms of nationality: you’ll find not only Spanish wines but international ones, too, should you want something exciting and different for your palate. I like how the wine menu is divided into the character of the wines to make it easier for you to pick depending on what your favorites usually are. Full-bodied, smooth and silky, fruit-driven and aromatic, light and crisp… Take your pick. Or perhaps you might want to go for a sake?

In addition to any wines, I highly recommend you to try one, or why not several, of the cocktails. I loved the Cherry Berry with Bombay Citron Pressé gin, Martini Floreale, cherry liqueur, lychee, raspberry, strawberry, vanilla, and lime. Sounds intriguing, right?

Mr Porter is a wonderful, chic, and elegant option for a special date night or anniversary, or why not a business dinner when you want to treat your guests. The dress code is smart casual.
