When you want to escape the city and get closer to nature, but without the crowds, then Can Alemany is your place. We have visited it on several occasions, and it was love at first sight.

This beautiful farmhouse is located in a small village close to Igualada (about an hour by car from Barcelona), surrounded by forests and vineyards. You can even see the Montserrat mountain in the distance.

Can Alemany is an old farmhouse that has been beautifully restored, keeping sustainability in mind throughout the process, with energy-efficient installations. Their goal is to make their environmental impact as small as possible and encourage responsible tourism.

They offer 11 different, spacious apartments (you can check them out here), all beautifully decorated and a calm that permeates the atmosphere. All apartments are equipped with a kitchen: the hotel does not have a restaurant on-site; however, they offer a lovely organic breakfast with items from local producers. There are also several good (and healthy!) delivery options if you prefer not to cook yourself.

One of our favorite apartments is La Gran Suite, with a private staircase, two double bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a spacious dining room where you can see the sun rising from behind Montserrat. The apartments all have so many beautiful details and are filled with light.

Events are often organized at the premises: yoga, workshops, Christmas markets, kids’ summer camps, and more. There are also great hike and biking routes in the surrounding nature. They also have a beautiful pool to chill by, their own vegetable garden, gym equipment, and a barbecue area. Can Alemany is so calm and relaxing, and it is not very well known, so it feels like you have discovered a little secret you almost want to keep to yourself..! You’ll barely notice that anybody else is there, even when the hotel is fully booked.

Can Alemany is great for families with kids, for couples, and as a freelancer, this is a perfect place for an escape. Some of the apartments can be rented for a longer time, which might just do the trick when you’re stressed and need to getaway.
