Can Travi Nou - Charming Old Guest House

Around Cataluña you can find “masías”, old rural guest houses. They are famous for their great food but in order to reach them you usually need to have a car. For many this is not an option (including myself), but just a metro ride away from the city center you can find Can Travi Nou, a fantastic choice when you want to have that rural masía experience.

This large old building is covered with vines, and has a large garden with huge trees, chicken, and a few tables and chairs should you prefer sitting outside on a sunny day. Inside it’s decorated with vintage furniture and old farm objects. Families gather here to celebrate birthdays and even weddings take place here.

The atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed, and you see a lot of families, both in the main dining room and in the different separate rooms you can book for special events and celebrations. The restaurant is wonderfully cozy, and invites to do a proper sobremesa: linger around the table for a long time, to eat and to chat.

The quality of the food is excellent, the prices are slightly higher than your ordinary lunch hangout, but still nothing too excessive. Make sure to keep an eye out for anything seasonal. The wine list is pretty good, too. The staff is always wonderful and friendly.

Make sure to book in advance, as it fill up rather quickly!
