El Puestu - Tapas Classics Done Right
El Puestu is quite the gem. It might seem like it’s been here since forever, but it is surprisingly new: young chef Xavier Garriga opened its doors in 2018. An unusual choice of neighborhood, too: El Puestu is located in Fort Pienc, not precisely famous for its food scene. But Garriga wanted a place where excellent quality products unite with fair prices, and that’s precisely what he has achieved.

The menu at El Puestu consists of many a classic dish that Garriga has leveled up with and made very attractive. What is served here is the epitome of comfort food. We had the bravas (gotta do the bravas in any tapas place you visit, don’t you think?) a wonderful, slowly cooked beef cheek with potato parmentier, and flavorful meatballs with squid. Each dish is just perfect.

One of their stellar dishes is the “callos,” a traditional dish that is not always easy to find in Barcelona, especially a well-executed one. When you go, make sure to ask for it. The prices here are just right, which adds to all the bonus points I want to give this place, and they have a terrace outside, on a pedestrian street. What more can you ask for?
