If someone asked me where to go for a really good meal by the sea in Barcelona, Eldelmar - Hermanos Torres would be high on my list.

The views over Port Olímpic are beautiful, but they're only part of the reason to visit. The food, the wine list, and the atmosphere are equally attractive.

Located on the newly renovated Port Olímpic, the restaurant from the famous Torres brothers combines one of Barcelona's most beautiful seaside settings with the kind of food you know you will enjoy. It's relaxed enough for a long lunch overlooking the Mediterranean, but beautiful and polished enough for a special dinner or celebration.

After visiting, I completely understand why it received its first Repsol Sun so quickly, and why they are Michelin recommended.

The Mediterranean takes centre stage

The menu is built around exceptional seafood, seasonal ingredients and classic Mediterranean flavours, all prepared with the precision the Torres brothers are known for.

You'll find everything from oysters, caviar and beautifully prepared raw dishes to grilled fish, generous rice dishes and a handful of classics from Hermanos Torres, including their famous canelón.

The quality of the ingredients is important here, nothing feels overly complicated, and the focus is on letting excellent produce speak for itself.

Don't skip the rice

If there's one thing I'd recommend ordering, it's one of the signature arroces a la llauna.

Served in individual square trays, they're unlike the rice dishes you'll find elsewhere in Barcelona. Our rice was outstanding and without a doubt one of the highlights of lunch.

The fish deserves your attention too

One thing I really enjoyed was seeing the day's catch presented at the table before ordering, and it’s also fun for any guests you bring along.

It's a lovely reminder that the menu changes with what's available, and it makes choosing your fish feel much more personal, and exciting.

If you're visiting with someone else, ordering a whole grilled fish to share is a great option.

One of Barcelona's best dining rooms

The stunning setting deserves a mention because it really is beautiful. Wherever you sit, the Mediterranean is never far from view.

Large windows gives the dining room lots of natural light, while plants soften the space and create a lovely, calm atmosphere (I have a soft spot for plants and interiors). It's elegant without feeling formal and even if the restaurant is full it still feels spacious.

The wine list is equally impressive, with hundreds of references and a team happy to help you find the right one to suit your taste.

A restaurant for almost any occasion

One thing I liked about Eldelmar is how versatile it is. It’s great for a long lunch with friends, a date night, a family celebration or to show visitors just how good Barcelona's food scene can be.

Too many restaurants by the sea rely on their location, but here the location is simply the icing on the cake. The food, the service and the atmosphere all come together nicely and makes you want to come back.
