Barcelona’s Historic Fargas Chocolate Shop Is Getting a World Champion’s Touch

One of Barcelona’s oldest chocolate shops is beginning a new chapter. Lluc Crusellas, winner of the World Chocolate Masters in 2022, is taking over Fargas, opening his first shop in the city on 5 November.

The Gothic Quarter business has a history stretching back to 1827. Now named Fargas Lluc Crusellas, it will continue selling its traditional stone-ground chocolate alongside creations from the chocolatier’s Vic-based brand, Eukarya.

The antique cacao mill and protected wooden furnishings will stay, with a glass-fronted workshop adding a view of the work behind the counter. There will also be hot chocolate to take away, including a suís, the version topped with whipped cream.

It’s a new address for Crusellas, and a way for a much-loved Barcelona chocolate business to continue as it approaches its 200th anniversary.
