Ikenocha Matcha Tea House, run by tea master Satoshi and his partner Chika, is a charming cafe that has a feeling of a traditional Japanese teahouse: calm, dark, and very cozy. It’s quite incredible how a place just next to Diagonal can feel so peaceful.

The focus is on beautifully prepared matcha and hojicha, but they also serve savory snacks and little dishes (I loved the takoyaki) and something sweet to finish, like the black sesame ice cream with anko.

Atmosphere: Calm, cozy, and quiet despite the central location.
A favorite: The takoyaki and anything matcha.
Something special: The black sesame ice cream with anko, it’s simple and so good.
Great if you like: Usagui.
Perfect for: Slowing down over tea and something small to eat, and a wonderfully Japanese feel.
