Parking Sótano – A Different Kind of Steakhouse

There’s no shortage of steakhouses in Barcelona, but every now and then one comes along that does things a little differently. Parking Sótano is one of those places.

Located underneath a pizza restaurant, the entrance already gives you a hint that this won’t be your typical experience. You head downstairs into a space that feels cool and a little unexpected, with an open kitchen at the center of it all.

The layout is mostly communal tables, which might not sound like the most intimate setup, but somehow it works. Whether you sit in the darker, cozier part of the room or under the skylight, there’s a nice atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy your meal. There’s even a small corner table for two if you’re after something more private.

A different way to order

The concept is simple and works very well: you build your meal yourself.

You choose your cut of meat, add sides, and pick a sauce if you feel like it. It keeps things flexible and makes it easy to tailor the meal to exactly what you’re in the mood for.

The food

The meat is excellent, really top notch, and clearly the focus here. But what stood out to me just as much were the sides.

They’re creative, well thought out, and far from an afterthought. The baked sweet potato with sage and blue cheese was a favorite of mine: comforting, a little unexpected, and truly delicious.

The experience

There’s a relaxed vibe to Parking Sótano. The open kitchen adds a bit of movement and life to the space, and the communal tables create a lively but still comfortable atmosphere.

It feels modern, but not in a way that tries too hard or feels overdone. Just a good, solid place to come for a great steak and a well-rounded meal.

Good to know

They also offer a very good weekday lunch deal, which makes it an especially interesting option if you’re looking for something a bit more special during the day without going overboard. And good if you want to go a bit easier on your wallet.

Final thoughts

Parking Sótano takes a familiar concept and gives it a slightly different spin. Great meat, creative sides, and a space that feels both social and surprisingly intimate.

A very solid choice when you’re in the mood for a steak, just not the usual kind!
