Lato Brunch - Colorful and Different

The brunch scene in Barcelona might be saturated, but there are still gems to discover, such as the unique Lato Brunch. They have two spots, one in Eixample and one in the Born, and you should head out to one of them ASAP!

I have visited their Born restaurant, located on a calm street where its cozy terrace spreads out on the sidewalk. Make sure to check out the framed photo of the pink lama outside!

Inside you’ll be greeted by a friendly staff, and a nice and colorful space. I love the sofa by the window, try to snatch that seat if you can.

Lato Brunch is owned by an Italian-Ecuadorian duo, and they put their own fascinating and cool touch to the menu. The dishes have fascinating names, and interesting and different ingredients, with fun Ecuadorian brushstrokes. Isn’t that cool?

On our first visit we tried the Bowl de los Andes: a wonderful (and healthy!) açai bowl with coconut cream, quinoa granola, and lots more ingredients. The Bikini Manaba blew my mind: This sandwich made with sourdough bread comes with poached egg, queso latino (yum!), ham, grilled plantain (also yum!), and with a tasty peanut sauce. I am still dreaming about it.

I have lots of plans for our next visit: I want to try one of their famous ceviches (they also have a vegan one), and the pancakes. They have a great, long list of drinks, both alcoholic (including unlimited mimosas!) and non-alcoholic ones, and I highly recommend the hot chocolate made with top-notch Ecuadorian cacao.
