Molinet Cafe Antic - Cosy, Cosier, Cosiest
If I would try to imagine the cosiest cafe ever, it would look exactly like Molinet Café Antic in Poble Sec. One of the owners, Steffen, has been collecting vintage furniture and trinkets for 25 years so that he could decorate the cafe he would someday have. Now he finally has it, and it is absolutely adorable.
It might look small from the outside, but when you step in you will see that it is definitely not the case. There is a beautiful, welcoming entrance, a cosy room upstairs for groups, a large room in the back with a piano (!), and in the back another gem: a patio with an urban garden with herbs used in the kitchen.
If you are a morning person come here for a lovely brunch on the patio. The portions are very generous, with both sweet and savoury options. Do not forget about the cakes, they are home made and REALLY good.
If you come in the evening sink into one of the cosy armchairs or sofas amidst candles, and grab a drink from the interesting wine list, a beer or a cocktail and relax. I particularly recommend the Hugo, a fresh drink made with cava and elderflower cordial. There are items on the menu to snack on too if you are hungry.
Molinet holds so much atmosphere, and the owners Steffen and Christian are very lovely people. They want to make sure everyone feels at home, and work hard on offering the best they can in both food and drinks. If you go it might just turn into your favourite hangout.
