The area around Sants has a few nice restaurants, but in terms of good breakfast and brunch it has been lacking. Until now, when Mood Brunch has entered the scene.

The restaurant has a privileged location in a corner of a building, facing the station. The excellent spot makes for a perfect setting: light floods in from all sides, offering a wonderful way of starting the day. The decoration is beautiful and unusual: the geniuses at Metrik keep outdoing themselves in cool architectural and interior design projects, and here they have created a colorful yet calming environment with lots of plants and mirrors in the ceiling that replicate the green and the pretty colors from the mural.

The menu is different from most other brunch places in its creativity. The waffle is made with a croissant-type of puff pastry, and is served with pumpkin, creme fraiche, feta cheese, confit ginger, and fried egg. A beautiful and delicious dish.

There’s a hash brown with melted camembert cheese, a fried egg, shimeji mushrooms, home-made pulled pork, and pak choi; very tasty and easy on the eyes. For those looking for pancakes fear not: their pancakes come served with matcha cream cheese and raspberries. The yoghurt bowl is also a piece of artwork: a creamy Bourbon vanilla yoghurt with berry granola, passion fruit and toasted coconut.

Ingredients are of high quality and the options are healthy: they always strive for using healthier options when it comes to flours, sweeteners, and such. The dishes are colorful and packed with flavor. The drinks menu offers freshly made juices in different variations, and of course you’ll find matcha and turmeric lattes too. Their coffee comes from Orang Utan Coffee: fairly traded, organic coffee with responsible cultivation (including avoiding deforestation) and processing.

Mood Brunch is hands down one of the most vibrant new brunch options in the city. It’s also a huge bonus that you can book a table here, very few brunch places in BCN offers this option.
