5 Barcelona Openings I’m Watching Right Now

I update this list regularly as new restaurants and bars open around Barcelona.

Barcelona rarely gives us a quiet month when it comes to new openings. Some of these places have already opened, while others are still getting ready, but these are five I have on my radar right now.

Mu Tan

Chef Chunlin Yu, who recently closed Ginnan, is preparing a new Chinese bar called Mu Tan in Gràcia. There isn’t much information available yet, but this is one I have a good feeling about. It appears to be taking over the former Gina Balmesina space on Carrer de la Riera de Sant Miquel.

Club del Disco Barcelona

This sounds like an interesting one. Club del Disco Barcelona is expected to open toward the end of September, combining a Hi-Fi listening bar and record shop with live music, food, coffee, drinks and cocktails.

Pepo

The people behind La Roseta and La Cala have added another place to the family. Pepo is open from 8:00 to 15:00 in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, making it a nice breakfast-and-lunch proposition.

Vivernacle

New openings aren't particularly frequent in Poble Sec these days, which makes Vivernacle one to watch. It’s a new wine bar on Vallhonrat and I’m curious to see what they do with it. It looks gorgeous inside, and the focus here is on wine from small producers and dishes to share.

Barra Cal Pla 1965

Casa Amalia has taken over and renovated the neighbouring space for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
