Five Barcelona Restaurants Are Up for TheFork’s Best New Opening of the Year
Five Barcelona restaurants have been nominated in the fifth edition of the TheFork Awards, which recognize some of Spain’s best restaurant openings from 2025.

The Barcelona nominees are Melós, Casa Fiero, Direkte, Franca (read my review here) and Macambo. They were selected as part of a national list of 41 restaurants by a jury made up of 56 Michelin-starred chefs, including Elena Arzak, Martín Berasategui, the Torres brothers, Ángel León and Begoña Rodrigo.
Now it’s the public’s turn. Diners can vote for their favorite nominated restaurant until October 11, with the most-voted restaurant receiving the People’s Choice Award. Nine restaurants will also be recognized as finalists.
The results will be announced on November 16, during the TheFork Awards ceremony at Madrid’s Gran Teatro CaixaBank Príncipe Pío.
