Sometimes you find those very special places that make your heart skip a beat. That is precisely what Otra Cosa Taberna is. With a very defined, charming personality, it serves up great food and drinks.

Remember when we were giving away a free photoshoot for a small business to support them post-lockdown last year? We received many emails, and one of them was from Felipe, the owner of Otra Cosa Taberna. His story caught our attention immediately. And our hunch was right. What a special and unique place.

Otra Cosa Taberna was initially located close to Arc de Triomf, but you can now find it in the friendly neighborhood of Sant Andreu. The place might look small, but there is plenty of passion and talent that fits into this bar.

Felipe is a young and talented Chilean chef, who despite his young age has an incredible amount of experience. He has worked in kitchens in San Francisco (where he stayed for months when he was only 16 years old!), New York, and for many years in Spain, including in very famous restaurants. Felipe is a humble, friendly human being whose biggest wish is for his guests to enjoy and have a good time.

At Otra Cosa Taberna, he creates beautiful and tasty dishes, perfect for sharing, with influences from here, from Asia, and Latin America. You will find both casual dishes (still unique and with great ingredients) such as a hot dog with butifarra del perol from Cal Rovira, escalivada, and cheese “snow”, and the insane trikini that you should not miss (see photo above).

If you are a fan of natural wines, this is your place. Felipe has the funkiest, most fascinating natural wines here, that pair perfectly with his beautiful dishes. Now he also offers his own wines, of which we tried the Albertina, and loved it.

Otra Cosa Taberna is an extraordinary kind of bar: it’s the kind you want to keep to yourself or share with only those you know would appreciate it.
