Per Feina Per Plaer - Catalan Comfort
Per Feina Per Plaer is a restaurant that knows how to check all the boxes. Chef Rafa Zafra is very talented and experienced, and knows how to bring out the best in local ingredients while staying true to the seasons.

At Per Feina Per Plaer, he offers everyday dishes with both Mediterranean and Catalan influences, dividing the experience in two, just as the name of the restaurant suggests. Per Feina is the casual side, the every day dishes, you come in for when you want a quick lunch or a beer and a snack. Per Plaer is the treat - the little extra indulgence.

The menu is not only divided into these two categories, but each also includes variations on a theme. Take vegetables for example: in the Per Feina section, you’ll find grilled artichoke and romesco sauce, while in the Per Plaer section it’s confit leek with hazelnut and olives. The menu continues like this, with soups, eggs, pasta, fried items, grill, seafood… You get the gist. It makes the menu both exciting and challenging to choose from: you’ll want one of everything! In addition to lunch and dinner, there’s also a bar and after-work menu for those in-between hours.

As the seasons change, so does the menu. On our recent visit, we tried some classics such as the gildas (highly recommend), croquetas (also delicious, they fillings change regularly), and the ensaladilla rusa, which we also loved.

From there, we moved on to the most perfect grilled artichoke, and canelones with truffled béchamel; the perfect kind of comfort food. We were also curious about the rice dish, which on our visit was prepared with pork ribs, mushrooms, and aioli. The portion size is perfect if you want to enjoy one all to yourself (just don’t order too many starters!), something that is much appreciated, since it’s not easy to find places that serve paella-style rice just for one.

Lastly, I’m a sucker for a good flan, and I can assure you the one at Per Feina Per Plaer is worth it. It’s creamy, comes served with whipped cream, and beautifully presented.

The restaurant has great atmosphere and energy, the team is friendly and efficient, and above all, the food is excellent.
