Tacos Guzmán: Tijuana-Style Tacos in El Raval

Tacos have always been popular in Barcelona, but every now and then a place comes along that feels like it could become a classic. Tacos Guzmán is hands down one of them.

Located on Carrer de Sant Pau in El Raval, this small corner spot serves Tijuana-style street food made from scratch, including their own tortillas. The space itself has plenty of personality, with eye-catching décor, merchandise for sale, and an atmosphere that feels lively from the moment you walk in.

The menu focuses on tacos, which are ordered in portions of three, as well as quesadillas, burritos, Jarritos, and micheladas. One of their signatures is the burrito with a cheese costra, where melted cheese forms a crispy outer layer around the tortilla. Don't forget to add some of their hot sauce if you enjoy a bit of heat.

We tried several tacos and were impressed across the board. The nopales quesadilla was another highlight and one we'd happily order again.

The restaurant is quite small, so finding a seat can be difficult during peak hours. If you arrive early, you may be able to eat in, but takeaway is often the easiest option.

The closest comparison that comes to mind is Tacos No.1 in New York City: simple, focused, and serious about quality (but a lot smaller!). Judging by the crowds and the enthusiasm surrounding the place, I wouldn't be surprised to see Tacos Guzmán open more locations in the future. It already seems to have won over some of Barcelona's most dedicated taco fans.
