Backstory English Bookshop - A Bookworm’s Paradise
There’s a new bookshop in town called Backstory English Bookshop, and I think you will love it. For me it was love at first sight! I am an avid reader, and wherever we travel I love visiting local bookshops. I have some favorites from my travels that I often dream about, but now I no longer need to go anywhere far because that dream bookshop is right here in Barcelona.

It’s called Backstory English Bookshop, and it’s run by Abbie and Kate who have created a wonderful space for all of us booklovers. They have curated their selection very carefully, and I saw so many of my favorites on their shelves, and many that are on my To Read list. The travel section is cleverly organized so that you’ll find guidebooks and books related to that location, too, which is an absolutely genius move. There are bookclub picks and memoirs and so much more. If you’re missing a book you can just drop them a message on WhatsApp and they’ll be happy to help you.

Kids will be thrilled when they see their own, designated area: not only are there lots of books for any age but also a really cute and cozy area for them to play in. Upstairs you can also find a great selection of funny greeting cards (you won’t find anything like these anywhere else in Barcelona, I can guarantee you that!).

The space is divided into two floors, where downstairs is a lovely area for YA, and a library of sorts where for a small monthly amount you can borrow books. How great is that? There are also spaces for book clubs, language classes, reading parties, and even a typewriter for those who feel creative and want to write a few lines. There’s also a little coffee corner if you need a little caffeine kick while you’re reading.

Backstory English Bookshop is the most perfect place any book lover might wish for. I can see myself hanging out here a lot, and participating in their events. I know you also love to support small (and local!) businesses, and this is the perfect opportunity to do so!
