Departure Coffee Co - A Raval Oasis

Departure Coffee Co created a lot of buzz right from the start. I fell head over heels in love with it from the first time I went for a visit! It is located on a tiny little street in the Raval that had quite a reputation before it was recently cleaned up. Now it is just really cool, and Departure Coffee Co definitely adds its charm to it.

This café brings an air of Shoreditch or Neukölln over it, but so completely authentic, local and charming. It has a couple of chairs and tables outside, and when you sit down you just don't want to leave. Inside you find more tables and chairs, and an art exhibition that changes every few weeks. In the middle of the room there is a beautiful vintage door press where you can also sit down and have a nice cup of coffee.

The (specialty!) coffee here is said to be fantastic by those who are in the know (I'm no expert but my coffee loving sources are to be trusted!), I’m a fan of matcha latte and theirs is absolutely perfect. There’s baked goods, and wine, cider, beer and snacks. Their avocado toast is really good (and big)!

I fell in love with this place so much the first time I visited that I actually went twice on the same day..! The owners Raquel and Xavi are so lovely, and will make sure you feel right at home. Do check it out, you won't be disappointed.
