Glug - The Wine Bar That Goes Beyond the Glass

Glug brings to the table what many a copy-and-paste kind of wine bar hasn’t been able to do: bring their own identity, look, and twist to the table. It’s playful, cute, but taking things seriously.

The bar is divided into tables (both standard ones and with tables with high chairs), and seats at the bar. My favorites are by the bar: they’re surprisingly spacious and you get to see all the action.

In terms of interior decoration Glug is minimalist but still fun and different. Little details such as the pretty menus add to the charm (see the photo above). There’s even a jukebox if you feel like adding your own musical touch.

The food is impressive. This is no high-end establishment, but the dishes are elaborate yet approachable. It’s small dishes perfect to combine and share, with local and seasonal ingredients and surprising twists. Think celery with smoked stracciatella and hazelnut, or bread with anchovies and goat butter, mackerel with endive and bagna caoda, and more.

Wine lovers will rejoice at Glug. The wine list is long and fascinating, and I highly recommend that you choose from the list of bottles because there’s a lot to be discovered there. They also have a few wines by the glass (including from tap!).

Glug is a wonderful new bar that checks all the boxes. The team here is young, eager, and professional, and I’m excited to see what this new generation will bring to the table (wonderful things I predict!).

Glug, Carrer de Viladomat, 289, Carrer de París, 77, 08029 Barcelona.
