There aren't many places in Barcelona where you can go from a quiet street to a rooftop that feels like the middle of a summer holiday in just a few minutes.

The area around The Social Hub in Poblenou is surprisingly calm, but as soon as you walk into the hotel, everything changes. The lobby is full of people working, chatting and meeting friends, and by the time you reach SíSí Rooftop, the atmosphere is even livelier.

I visited for lunch on a weekday, and despite it being the middle of the week, the rooftop was already very lively. When you look around, it’s easy to see why.

A rooftop that feels like a vacation

One of the first things you'll for sure notice is the view. From the rooftop you can see the Mediterranean, the hills surrounding Barcelona and much of the Poblenou skyline. I felt like I was on vacation, even though I was there for only a couple of hours.

Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, meeting friends for cocktails or just looking for a rooftop that feels a little different from the usual hotel bars, SíSí is a great option, and frequented by both locals and visitors. The terrace space is large, but there’s also a cozy space inside if you prefer.

Mexican-inspired dishes made for sharing

The menu takes inspiration from Mexican flavours while incorporating seasonal ingredients and contemporary techniques. Although there are larger main courses available, on our visit we decided to order a selection of smaller plates to share, which worked perfectly for lunch.

We started with the oysters, followed by the zamburiñas and the aguachile, which was one of my favourite dishes of the meal. The elotes were another highlight: they were spicy and cheesy, and since they’re not easy to find in Barcelona, I was all over them. We also ordered the wild prawns before ending with the Mango Tajín, a fresh and light dessert that hit the spot.

Cocktails with a view

A rooftop like this deserves a cocktail, so we ordered two of the house signatures: the Jamaicano and the Paloma. Both were delicious and just the kind of drinks you'd want while taking in the views.

I'd recommend arriving in the late afternoon/evening if you can. That way you can enjoy a few dishes before sipping on a cocktail as the sun begins to set over the city.

Is SíSí Rooftop worth visiting?

Absolutely.

I loved the food and the cocktails, but I really enjoyed the feeling of being on vacation for a while, far, far away from any obligations. Between the views and the atmosphere, it felt like a little holiday in the middle of the week.

If you're looking for somewhere to celebrate, impress visitors or just enjoy good cocktails and dishes to share with friends, SíSí Rooftop is definitely one to add to your list.
