A Michelin-Starred Barcelona Restaurant Is Closing in October
Slow & Low, one of Sant Antoni’s most famous restaurants, will close on October 17 after eight years. The restaurant currently holds a Michelin star and a Repsol Sun, and chef and owner Frank Beltri has said the decision came after a long period of reflection.

For me, the interesting part is what comes next. Slow & Low as a gastronomic restaurant is ending, but the team is not disappearing. Beltri will continue with Bar Canyí, their much more casual neighborhood bar focused on traditional tapas (read my review here), and has also hinted at new projects to come, mentioning food, and vinyl (!).
The timing also feels interesting because Nicolás de la Vega, Slow & Low’s former co-chef, left earlier this year to open Maíz Maíz, his relaxed Mexican street-food project in Sant Antoni (read my review here). So while Slow & Low is closing, both chefs seem to be moving towards smaller, more casual concepts rather than away from the Barcelona food scene altogether.
Slow & Low’s final dinner will be on October 17.
