The Green Spot - Beautiful Place, Beautiful Food

The Green Spot gives a great first impression. The place is gorgeous! Plenty of space, beautiful chairs and tables, greenery and windows so clean you think they're not there (yes, odd thing to be impressed by, but I could not stop looking at those windows..!). The Green Spot belongs to the En Compañia de Lobos group with a handful of restaurants in Barcelona and Madrid. They do good quality food and the interiors are always beautifully designed, and The Green Spot does not disappoint.

The menu is vegetarian and vegan, and wonderfully creative. I honestly browsed through the menu for 20 minutes, because there are so many different, appealing options. One of the most instagrammed dishes is the black carbon pizza but if you are going for beautiful dishes don't worry, there is plenty to choose from. The kohlrabi carpaccio with spirulina, pistachios and tamarind vinaigrette decorated with edible flowers is like a piece of art too, just to give an example.

I love the sweet potato tagliatelle that comes with a macadamia nut sauce and black truffle. The sauce is so creamy that you can't imagine it's not dairy, and the truffle gives it that lovely punch. Even a simple dish like the edamame with chili is an almost addictive starter.

The desserts do not disappoint either. The rhubarb and strawberry crumble with vanilla sauce (all vegan) is fantastically good, and such a surprise to find rhubarb on the menu here in Barcelona.

The Green Spot is a great place if you are looking for somewhere to eat healthy, but want to do it in a classy (not stuffy though!) environment. For me it's a place I want to go back to plenty of times, there are so many items on the menu I am curious about. On their webpage it says "veggie for veggies, veggie for non veggies" and it is indeed a place to take your hard-core carnivore friend and surprise them with how tasty and creative vegetarian and vegan fare can be. I would go as far as saying it is one of the best vegetarian restaurants in the city! They now have a second location, see address below.

The Green Spot, Carrer de la Reina Cristina 12, Barcelona (Barceloneta) and Reina Cristina 12 (close to L’Illa).
