Best Cheat Meals in Barcelona
Life is all about balance. Eating healthy is great, but sometimes we really want to have something indulgent. When I have a craving, I really want to make it worthwhile. So I decided to make a list of the best cheat meals in Barcelona!
Here are a few lists you might find useful:
EatMyTrip, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
EatMyTrip - They have many great dishes for a good cheat meal, especially the French Toast that comes with a big cloud of cotton candy!
Zimt, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Zimt - Feeling lazy? Then give Zimt a ring and they’ll bring you the tastiest cinnamon rolls home to you, or to the office if that’s what you prefer!
La Real, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
La Real - Perfect place if you’re craving burgers! Their parmesan fries are very good, as are their nachos (so comforting) and their burgers are top level!
Oma Bistro, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Oma Bistró -There are many good cheat meal dishes to choose from here, but the French Toast is the king of them all..!
La Cava Cakery, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
La Cava Cakery - Is a good cupcake your thing? Go to La Cava Cakery for really well-made cupcakes in many flavours, and get a specialty coffee with it, or why not a glass of cava?
Funky Bakers, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Funky Bakers - Go here and go crazy with all the delicious, freshly baked items like the frangipane tarts or the carrot cakes. Go here early, pick up some tasty baked goods for takeaway and enjoy a breakfast in bed!
Alsur Cafe, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Alsur Cafe - The Carrot Cake Pancakes are a sight for sore eyes, as are the Oreo waffles and so many other sweet and savoury items on their menu.
Cookona, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Cookona - Go crazy in this cookie dough paradise! They make fun and crazy things like a brownie with Oreo cookie dough paired with vanilla ice cream and Kinder hot fudge. If you’re really into it get a cookie pizza..!
La Besneta, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
La Besneta - Vegan is not boring, and La Besneta really proves it. Their vegan croissants filled with dulce de leche or tiramisu cream are to die for.
Santo Porcello, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Santo Porcello - In addition to a yummy authentic Italian sandwich I really urge you to try the Tiramisu, it’s out of this world.
Il Birrino, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Pasta - Want to fill up with carbs? My favourite places for pasta are Xemei (classy and romantic), and Il Birrino (laid-back and cosy).
Parallelo, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Ice cream - Is ice cream your weakness? My favorites for good ice cream is Rocambolesc, Gocce di Latte and Parallelo, hands down.
Candela Canela, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Cinnamon Rolls - We have a couple of great places in Barcelona if you feel like having a good cinnamon roll. I love Candela Canela in Gracia and Demasie in the Born. Both have wonderful flavors to choose from like dulce de leche, matcha, Nutella and so forth.
La Estrella, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
La Estrella - I love this restaurant, and wait until you hear their dessert menu..! Anything from the chocolate lovers dessert list is perfect for a cheat day.
Las Fritas - Are fries your thing? Las Fritas makes them really well, they have a secret technique they use to make them very tasty, and lots of wonderful sauces to pair them with. Also check out their tapas and their vermouths.
Churros - Churros and chocolate is a wonderful cheat meal, don’t you think? I love mine from classic Granja M Viader or Granja Dulcinea.
Chök, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Chök - This place and their donuts and cronuts are the real deal. There is lots of choice and something for everyone (including vegan and gluten free options). Read my review here.
Big Al’s, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Big Al’s - So you might be craving a big fat burger now and then between. This is where you should get it! The burger patty is so tasty, I don’t know what they do to them to make them so flavorful. And the burgers are huge, too. If you manage to finish the Widowmaker you get your picture on the wall! The curly fries are great and I challenge you to gulp down a milkshake too..! More on Big Al’s here.
Parking Pizza, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Parking Pizza - If you crave pizza you want it to be a good one, right? I think it doesn’t get better than Parking Pizza. I’m not big on crusts, but this one is delicious. And the toppings… My absolute favorite is the one with fontina cheese, egg (yolkporn galore!), Parmesan and truffle. One of the best pizzas I’ve EVER had. Unfortunately for all of us trying to be healthy they also deliver. Read my review on Parking Pizza here.
Oriol Balaguer, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Oriol Balaguer - These guys won a prize for the best croissant a couple of years back, and I see why. Ask for the hazelnut cream filled croissant and it takes you to heaven and back in a few flaky bites.
Chivuos, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Chivuo’s - I’ve talked about burgers before in this list, but let’s not forget about Chivuo’s. Their burger is fantastic, so is their pulled pork sandwich, their tuna melt, their cheesy potato wedges and their seasonal specials take the burger game to a whole new level (if it’s the patty melt you’re in luck..!). You’re worth it.
Lukumas, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Lukumas - These greek-style donuts are so decadent, and so worth the cheat. They are light light and fluffy, and they come in many different flavors and fillings. My favourite is the little doughnut hole filled with white chocolate. And considering it’s small it’s not such a huge cheat, right? Read my post on Lukumas here.
Baluard Bakery, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Baluard Bakery - Their almond croissant is legendary. I dare you not to try it..!
Trópico, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Trópico - When I'm going healthy the one thing I crave is a proper brunch. In Trópico you have the real deal, with pancakes and all. A perfect cheat brunch! Read more on Trópico here.
Picnic Restaurant, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Picnic Restaurant - French Toast anyone? Now that's what I call a cheat meal! Picnic Restaurant makes a mean French Toast, and it's huge too. Wash it down with a vodka-infused lemonade. Read my review of Picnic Restaurant here!
