Pepa Bar a Vins, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Pepa Bar a Vins - It used to be a bookshop, and the owners have kept a lot of the old deco. The food is great, and do let the staff guide you, they are really good at picking interesting options. Read my review here. Make sure you try the interesting wines! Aribau 41 (Eixample).

Xemei - You can’t go wrong with Italian when you’re looking for something romantic, that’s just the way it is. Xemei has so much atmosphere, and it’s very cosy. The food is amazing and the staff is friendly. Sharing dishes and a dessert and having a couple of glasses of wine sets you back about 35-40 euros per person. Paseo de la Exposición 85 (Poble Sec).
Racó d’en Cesc - A classic. Most tables are far from each other so you get plenty of privacy, and the tables are big so you don’t feel cramped. Their sommelier is amazing, and they bring you a BOOK with all of their wines (they also do beer pairings and have a huge set of beers available). The food is very local and very comforting. Read more here. Diputació 201 (Eixample).
Cellarer - These guys have a wine shop and now a bar too, where you can get MANY many wines by the glass (and half glass) and have something to eat too. Mallorca 211 (Eixample).
Can Recasens - Are you in the mood for love but also cheese? Go here. It’s an amazingly cosy space with many different rooms, candles everywhere, and a menu packed with cheeses in every form, cured meats, salads and good wines. The prices here are excellent. Rambla del Poblenou 102 (Poblenou).
Benzina, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Benzina - What used to be a car mechanic’s shop is now a gorgeous space where a cool Brooklyn vibe has swept in, with a few Moroccan accents. So different, very attractive and sets a tone for the evening. The food is deliciously Italian, and the menu changes every couple of months to display seasonal ingredients. Make sure to order cocktails too, they’re great. Read my review here. Passatge de Pere Calders 6 (Sant Antoni).
Sato I Tanaka - The door to this Japanese restaurant looks rather anonymous, and inside you will find a mere 15 seats, all along the bar that surrounds the talented chefs. Make sure you go for the tasting menus, it’s a wonderful experience. Read my review here. C/ Bruc 79 (Eixample).

It is unforgettable. Make sure to book a few weeks in advance! Read my review here. Cabres 13 (La Boqueria).
Casa Figari - A cool, Italian-inspired wine bar that is quite a gem! Very interesting natural wines to choose from, some food, and live music. Can it get any better for a date night? I think not. Carrer del Torrent de l'Olla, 141 (Gracia).
Can Travi Nou, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Can Travi Nou - This beautiful restaurant looks like a cozy old farm house, and weddings are celebrated here. The house is divided into several rooms that you can book for a special occasion. The food is traditional local and seasonal dishes, made with the best ingredients. Read my review here. c/ Jorge Manrique s/n (Vall d’Hebron).

La Carassa - These guys are experts on fondues, and it has the feeling of an Austrian ski cottage. Low ceiling beams, candles and hand-made lace table cloths. Brosolí 1 (Born).
Spicy Volx, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Spicy Volx - A fun, cool and different option for a romantic evening! The space is large, dark but very cozy, with so many fascinating details everywhere. The walls are amazing, covered with interesting and cool artwork. Most tables are communal, which fits the vibe perfectly. The menu is a mix of Asian dishes, divided into starters, spicy specials, soups, noodles and rice and robata. The cocktails are to die for. Read my review here.
