New Restaurants in Barcelona - Summer 2026 Edition

Summer 2026 has brought over 104 new restaurant openings to Barcelona: Think burgers and vinyl, modern Filipino fare, a Mexican marisquería, New York-style pizza, several new taco joints, Japanese burgers paired with local wine, exciting vegan and vegetarian restaurants, Catalan cooking with an Indonesian twist, wine bars... and a whole lot more.

This is my full round-up of the best new restaurants in Barcelona this season, updated as the city keeps opening.

PS: I haven’t been to all of these obviously, ain’t nobody got time for that. I want this post to be informative and you can pick out the ones that sound interesting to you. I have visited all the ones with my photos, and below in My To Go-list I’ve added the spots that I’m prioritizing my visit to, they sound awesome! Are you missing a spot that should be on this list? Drop me a line!

To Go-list

La Joyita is a Mexican marisquería which I find is an interesting and refreshing new addition to the food scene in Barcelona, specifically in Gràcia. Torrent de l’Olla 143. IG: @lajoyita_bcn.

Imahe won’t open until October but I am very excited, and I wanted to share it with you so you can keep your eyes on it. It’s a Modern Filipino Kitchen, and I’ve been missing this since years and years when Hawker 45 unfortunately closed. I have a hunch this will be very good. Follow them on IG: @imahe.bcn.

I am incredibly curious about new El Cuadrat, run by the El Rectangle team. It has opened in the space that used to be Varmuteo. It’s a no-reservations spot for natural wine and tapas, and they have a terrace. IG: @elcuadrat. C/ Vilamarí 3 (Sant Antoni).

Salut Bar is the new sister spot to Salut Bistró (read my review here), with a focus on tapas and wine. I love their big sister, and I will most definitely swing by here, too. C/ d’Enric Granados 58 (Example Esquerra). IG: @salutbarbcn.

I know very little about new Martin Pascal in Sants, but I’m intrigued. On their IG profile they say Despensa Salada & Cultura de Mesa, and I find that fascinating. C/ Vallespir 73 (Sants). IG: @martinpascalbcn.

Just next to the museum Palau Martorell there’s a newly opened café called Tarannà, and it looks both beautiful and enormous. This is definitely a spot I want to visit, after a spot in the museum (you get 10% discount in the café if you show your ticket!). Carrer Ample 13 (Gòtic). IG: @taranna_palaumartorell.

The somm at awesome Berbena has opened his own place called Piedra together with a partner, and it looks excellent. Carrer d’Amigo 33 (Sarrià-Sant Gervasi). IG: @piedrabcn.

The concept of new Sarau is interesting: a space that hosts different, changing chefs for a couple of weeks, and who prepare tasting menus for the guests. On their IG profile you can see who is the current chef. The price of the tasting menu is fixed: 85€. Carrer Tavern 11 (Sarrià-Sant Gervasi). IG: @saraubarcelona.

A new bar has opened in El Clot called Filoso, serving wine, dishes from the grill, and escabeches (a very specific combo!). Looks great! IG: @filoso.bar_ Carrer de la Nació, 30 (El Clot).

They put so much love and care into their dishes and drinks, and you can see that they’ve easily converted first-time visitors to regular clients. It’s also the kind of place where you just happen to start talking with the other patrons, which always points to good vibes. The food is vegetarian with plentiful of vegan options, and always prepared with vegetables that are local and in season. I loved everything I had on our visit: the hash browns (the best I’ve ever had) with harissa, the beautiful toast, the fun gilda (they won an honorable mention in the neighborhood tapas contest recently!), among other things. Mocha is an incredibly cute little café close to Sagrada Familia (but away from the crowds!) with the loveliest team of ladies running it (and a charming little pup!). They told us that the beautiful branches they’ve decorated the space with are pieces they collected from a storm that hit the city, I love that little detail. They do specialty coffee (with a shiny Marzocco) and matcha, and something sweet to go with it if you like. I tried the matcha Einspanner and was delighted with how good it was, and also with the size of the drink. I’ve seen the Strawberry Tiramisu and the Matcha Latte Brûlée and they look gorgeous, too..! Hermòs Bar de Peix, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.

Unfortunately little Ugo’s Corner in Poblenou has closed after 2 years. Best of luck for new ventures!

More sad news: La Brillantina in Gràcia has closed its doors. It was a magical place!

Also Ugot Bruncherie has closed, after 14 years of incredible shakshukas and the most amazing weekend cheesecake specials. They will be missed!

Lovely Platerets in Gràcia has also closed. This is such a shame, their menu del día was really great with lots of options, and the place was cozy.

Very sad news: groundbreaking slow-food vegetarian restaurant Rasoterra has closed after 13 years. Their last day open was May 3rd. Hopefully we will see them somewhere else soon!

Ginnan, run by chef Chunlin Yu, has closed recently. But I’m sure we’ll see him soon with a new project!

Very sadly Ona in Poblenou has done its last service this month. This 6-seats only, 16 dishes or more experience is one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen in a while, and they will be very, very missed. Ona was one of a kind and I have some truly beautiful memories from my visits.

Casa Leopoldo in the Raval used to be a meeting point for writers and artists, it first opened in 1936 and has been an important part of the restaurant scene in Barcelona. Now unfortunately it has closed its doors.

Cruixent, a bakery in Poblenou, open since 2012, will close its doors on July 31st. We wish them the best of luck!

Super cute El Flako have closed their doors after 10 years, but they will continue their adventures with a different concept at @gira.barcelona. Think wines, cocktails, and food, somewhere in the Gòtic. Looking forward to it!

Also Canalla Urban Food has closed. They had both a restaurant and a food truck, and we are sorry to see them go.

Popular Fella Pizza has closed after 5 years, we hope they will return with a new project at some point.
