Best Breakfasts in Barcelona
Looking for a great breakfast in Barcelona? I have picked out all the best ones in this list! I have chosen the places that open before 10 AM, after this I think we should call it brunch, don’t you think? Many places that open early during the week open later during the weekend, if that is the case I have mentioned this in the texts below.
If you aren’t an early riser no worries, you can find a list of the city’s best brunches here. Also: if you’re really into pancakes I made a list of the best ones here.

The Egg Lab
This laid-back, friendly hangout specializes in Eggs Benedict, with many different options inspired by different parts of the world (I love their Korean Eggs Benedict!). Both locations have terraces. Read my review of The Egg Lab here.

Raw Studio
Raw Studio is both cute and cozy, and it feels like you’ve stepped into a cute place in Copenhagen, London, or Berlin. They have wonderful healthy options, and some more indulgent ones, too. Read my review here.
Carrer de l'Avenir, 66, 08021 Barcelona (Sarrià-Sant Gervasi) and Pstge. de Mercader 16 (Eixample Esquerra).
Jaç, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Jaç
If a beautiful interior is high on your list for a breakfast spot, then Jaç is your place. Not only is it visually stunning, but they also sport a Hi-Fi sound system, so you’ll be listening to some good music, too. They have a little something on the menu food wise, and great coffee and matcha. They have a designated table if you bring your laptop to get some work done while you’re at it.
Jaç, Av. Diagonal, 335, Barcelona (Eixample Dreta).
Roast Club
This small cafe is always very busy with both friends of specialty coffee (they roast their own beans) and for those looking for something to eat. Their food options are great, I love their sandwiches.
Roast Club, C/ de València, 190, (L'Eixample Esquerra).
La Galena
Poble Sec does not have an abundance of cute cafes, but luckily La Galena is here to change that. Specialty coffee, breakfast and brunch, a good lunch deal, a terrace outside on the plaza, and generally really good vibes. They open a little later on weekends. Read my review here.
La Galena, Plaça del Sortidor, 18, Barcelona (Poble Sec).
Vitrina Café, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Vitrina Cafe
This tiny place is located inside a hotel (Magatzem 128) and is a favorite of mine for many reasons: it opens early, serves good coffee and matcha, the service is very friendly, and they have very nice pastries, toasts, and sandwiches. For something savory you can order either one of the pre-prepared one (freshly made of course) and they’ll heat it up for you, or you can order one from the menu written on the wall behind the counter. The salmon toast with labneh for example is not only delicious but easy on the eyes, and the filled croissants, the babkas, and the banana bread with espresso mascarpone on top are also highly recommended.
Vitrina Cafe, C. de Calabria, 128 (Eixample Esquerra).
Gaia’s Garden, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Gaia’s Garden
Close to Sagrada Família but appropriately removed from the rush, Gaia’s Garden is a peaceful, cozy spot to slow down. It’s small (just a couple of benches inside and out) but that’s part of its charm. Everything here is made from scratch, with care and the best ingredients they can find. They have lots of different açai bowls to choose from, and I can guarantee you won’t get hungry again for hours.
Carrer de Còrsega, 551, 08025 Barcelona (Sagrada Familia).
Garage Coffee
I am a big fan of this cozy cafe that serves specialty coffee, a bite to eat, and of course also cakes and cookies. The staff is very friendly, and regulars get a stamp card for free coffees.
Garage Coffee, Carrer de Joan Gamper, 13 (Les Corts).
Funky Bakers, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience.
Funky Bakers
This wonderful bakery has three locations: the original bakery, a deli, and an Eatery. In all of the locations you can get your (specialty) coffee fix, they have amazing cakes, cookies, sandwiches for takeaway, and solid breakfast items on their menu in the Eatery.

Carrer de Pere IV 168 (Poblenou).
Balzac Café
Elegant and old-world in style, Balzac charms with creative drinks (some of them exclusive with special ingredients) and a little something to eat, too. They make everything from scratch and put a lot of love into sourcing only the best of the best. The owner José is always impeccably dressed behind the counter, and will always share more details around anything you’re curious about.
Balzac Café, Pg. de St. Joan, 127, Barcelona (Example Dreta).

This charming cafe has quite a history (all the way from 1870!), and it is the perfect place to go if you would like to have churros and hot chocolate for breakfast. Their bikini sandwich toast is also pretty great.
