Best Vegetarian and Vegan Restaurants in Barcelona


It’s finally here, the ultimate guide to the best vegetarian and vegan restaurants in Barcelona!

I have divided this list into three categories:

  1. Best vegetarian restaurants and cafes

  2. Best vegan restaurants and cafes

  3. Best vegan- and vegetarian friendly restaurants and cafes

As always, please let me know if you think I missed a place, I will be happy to add it! I also want to add that as an exception, there are places in this list I haven’t visited myself, but have been recommended to me.

La Riera - Vegetarian restaurant in Les Corts with good vegan options. Traditional Catalan cuisine made vegetarian. Carrer del Regent Mendieta 15 (Les Corts).

Teresa Carles - A classic. A long menu filled with tasty vegetarian and vegan home-cooked kind of food. Carrer de Jovellanos 2 (Raval).

Fat+Veggies Barcelona

Fat Veggies - This restaurant is paradise for any veggie lover. They are innovative and make tasty and indulgent dishes that you won’t forget about for a while. They also ferment and pickle. Read my review of cool Fat Veggies here. C/ de Bailèn, 83, (Eixample Dreta).

Veg World India - Authentic vegetarian Indian food with a home-cooked vibe. Carrer de Bruniquer 24 (Gracia).

Little Fern Barcelona

Little Fern Cafe - This charming cafe has many fun and tasty vegan and vegetarian options, don’t miss this gem! They also serve specialty coffee, and cocktails. Read my review of Little Fern here. They also have a lovely bakery, also in Poblenou. Cafe: Carrer de Pere IV 168 and Bakery: Carrer de Maria Aguilò 119 (both in Poblenou).

Üli Brunch - A charming little vegan and vegetarian place with a terrace. They do brunch, serve specialty coffee, and do pop-ups of different kinds. Paseo Taulat 138 (Poblenou). Instagram: @ulibrunch.

Swagatam - It might look humble but the food is very authentic Indian, with great vegetarian and vegan options. Carrer de Sant Augustí 10 (Gracia).

Vegetalia - A colorful vegetarian restaurant in the Born. They also have some vegan options. Plaça del Fossar de les Moreres s/n (Born).

Sopa - When I was working in Poble Nou I had lunch here several times a week, and the lunch menu is great value for money. It's vegetarian, vegan and macrobiotic. The space is filled with light, and they have a terrace if you prefer to have your lunch in the sun. Read more here. Carrer de Roc Boronat 114 (Poble Nou).

Bebo - This juicery has food options (good for lunches at the office for example!), healthy shots, snacks and more. They have three different locations around the city.

La+Papa+Barcelona

La Papa - A gorgeous café with specialty coffee, indulgent pancakes, beautiful cakes, and much more. They also have a little shop in the back. C/ Aribau 92 (Eixample Esquerra), Pau Claris 190 (Eixample Dreta), and a takeaway bakery spot on Gran de Gràcia 127.

Copasetic - In addition to being vegetarian it is also gluten-free. It’s famous for brunch. Carrer de la Diputació 55 (Eixample Esquerra).

Quinoa Bar - A tiny, casual vegetarian and vegan place in Gracia, good, honest and fresh food. Travessera de Gràcia 203 (Gracia).

Sesamo - Vegetarian restaurant in Sant Antoni with many vegan options. Their whole roasted cauliflower looks very impressive! Carrer de Sant Antoni Abat 52 (Sant Antoni).

Faire Brunch Barcelona

Faire. Brunch & Drinks - A cozy brunch spots with set values on sustainability. For each receipt they plant a tree! All the leftovers are locally composted and turned into soil that the guests can take home with them, they use a carbon-neutral server for their website, and much more. An in addition to this they have a delicious vegetarian brunch with tasty vegan options! If you can, ask for a table in the back: it’s a super cute room with a plant-filled patio next to it. Faire. Tapas & Wine - The brunch spot above has expanded into a tapas and wine spot next door, with a very different concept but equally as charming and with the same sustainable values. The food is great, and the wines are local and interesting. They also serve cocktails. Read my review here. C/ de Girona, 79, (Eixample Dreta).

Aguaribay+Barcelona

Aguaribay - This Poblenou restaurant and cafe has been around for quite a while already, serving healthy and comforting vegetarian and vegan meals. They have a great lunch menu on weekdays. Carrer del Taulat, 95, Barcelona (Poblenou).

A Taste of Home - Also very much worth mentioning is the shop Taste of Home that is a lifesaver for any expat and local, too. They have a wide range of both vegetarian and vegan items, many of them difficult or impossible to find anywhere else in the city. In case you are looking for something specific, you can check with the owner and she might be able to order it for you! A Taste of Home has three locations, Carrer Roger de Llúria 53 (Eixample) , Carrer San Jose 32 (Sitges) and Carrer Maestrat, 11 (Cubelles).

Supermercado El Sueco - A Swedish supermarket with anything you might want when if you’re missing Swedish staples, AND they have a nice selection of intresting meat substitutes in their freezer. Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes 714 (Eixample Dreta).

Maoz - If you haven’t been to Maoz, you haven’t really lived (in Barcelona)! Their falafels are legendary, and they’ve been around for a long, long time. Carrer de Ferran, 13 (Gòtic).

Alive Restaurant Vegetarià - Used to be vegetarian but is now entirely vegan, with good options also for kids. Travessera de les Corts 180 (Les Corts).

Pastan - Plant-based pasta in lots of different versions. This family-run business first opened in the UK, and has now landed in Barcelona with their enticing pasta dishes. What about a pumpkin and sage tortellini dressed with sage butter and deep fried sage leaves? Or a vegan Mac & Cheese with crispy onions and toasted breadcrumbs? C/ de Josep Torres 25 (Grácia). Noush - This fairly new restaurant serves beautiful, colourful comfort food with a Persian touch. They also offer natural wines, tapas, and cocktails. Carrer d’Olzinelles 100 (Sants).

Bubita Sangria Bar - Some say it’s the best place for vegan tapas! It used to be called BarCeloneta, but they have done a rebranding and changed their location to the Born. Carrer dels Flassaders, 15 (Born).

Ginger & Seltz - When someone calls themselves a Flexibodega I’m intrigued. Natural wines, vegan, vegetarian, and flexitarian tapas, and a really cute space come together here. Think vegan steak tartare, jackfruit curry, a vegan cheese board… C/ Planeta 41 (Gràcia).

Good Shit, Vegan Kebabs - Indulgent vegan kebab in a cool spot in Gracia. A must visit! Carrer del Torrent de l'Olla, 138 (Grácia).

Amma+Gelato Barcelona

Amma Gelato - They make the most delicious vegan ice creams, with innovative and fun flavors. Read my review of Amma Gelato here. Plaça de la Virreina 3 (Gracia).

Botanic - In case you remember Mama’s Cafe in Gràcia (which closed some time ago) with its cute patio, there is a brunch restaurant that has now opened in its place, and it’s all plant based! And you can book a table, which is always appreciated when it comes to brunch. Check out the vegan falafel benedict with pickled fennel. C/ de Torrijos 26 (Gràcia).

La Besneta - Everything is vegan in this awesome bakery, and you can order cakes from them for special events. Read more about La Besneta here. Carrer de Torrijos 37 (Gracia).

Cat Bar - Something of a legend of a vegan bar in Barcelona. Fun and laid back. Carrer de la Bòria 17 (La Ribera).

Morgentau Barcelona Vegan restaurant

Morgentau - A fully plant-based brunch restaurant: fair-trade coffee, farm-to-table, km0, artisanal and organic they say, and we’re here for it. Check the fluffy blueberry-poppy seed pancakes with a lemon yoghurt sauce. C/ de la Llacuna 114 (Poblenou).

Indo Bar - A plant-based cute bar that offers specialty coffee and açai on Carrer del General Álvarez de Castro 5 (La Ribera).

La Consciente - They first started with a gluten-free and vegan bakery with incredible baked goods, and from there they expanded to a café and brunch spot in Gràcia. One of their gluten-free breads have been awarded as the best GF bread in Catalunya! Bakery: Viladomat 134 (Eixample Esquerra), and Café: Gran de Gràcia 203 (Gràcia).

Mad Mad Vegan - It first started in Madrid and then expanded to Barcelona, serving indulgent vegan food to hungry patrons. They do burgers, tacos, sandwiches, cauliflower wings, and a whole lot more. Carrer d’Aribau 65 (Eixample Esquerra).

Veggie Garden - Completely vegan with Indian and fusion food like tapas, burgers, salads, and sandwiches. In the Raval and close to Universitat. Good quality-price ratio. Carrer dels Àngels 3 (Raval) and Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes 602 (Eixample Esquerra).

Santa Vegana - They serve burgers, dishes to share (think quiche Lorraine, tortilla, croquetas), salads, pokes… And their croissant with vegan Nutella is supposed to be amazing. Carrer de n’Arai 1 (Gòtic).

Falafel Pedralbes - Vegan street food, with a focus on falafels, bowls, and pitas, and all of it plant-based. Carrer de Jordi Girona 12 (Sarrià-Sant Gervasi). Instagram: @falafelpedralbes.

Tonka Pastisseria Vegana - A bakery that makes the most delicious cakes and cookies. You would never guess they’re vegan: the cakes are fluffy and moist and simply fantastic. Their cookies are among the best I’ve had in the city. They also offer cold brew and home-made chai, and you can ask for bespoke vegan cakes for any occasion. C/ de Verdi, 20, Local 1 (Gràcia).

Vegan Tulsi Restaurant - The menu has both local and international dishes, and also a lunch deal. They have great reviews! C. del Consell de Cent, 279 (Eixample Esquerra).

Equilibrium Cafe - A breakfast and brunch place with pancakes, a full English breakfast, and more, all vegan, of course. Gran Via de Les Corts Catalanes 677 (Eixample Dreta).

Rasoterra+Barcelona

Rasoterra - This beautiful and cozy vegan restaurant is very true to its concept of honoring the producers, using only local ingredients, and serving low-intervention wines. The price/value ratio is very much on point. Read my review of Rasoterra here. Carrer del Palau 5 (Gotico).

Desoriente - A cool Asian vegan restaurant with intriguing, elaborate but approachable dishes. Korean bravas? Tikka Masala Bao made with jackfruit? These are a few of their cool dishes. They now sport two locations. C/ de Ramon Turró, 209 (Poblenou) and Carrer de València 201 (Eixample Esquerra).

Blu Bar - A very popular vegan restaurant serving tapas, sandwiches, pizzas, and drinks. Rambla del Poblenou, 11 (Poblenou).

Vrutal - Several different vegan burgers, bowls, and dishes to share. Rambla del Poblenou, 16, Bajos 4 (Poblenou) and Carrer de la Diputació 200 (Eixample Esquerra).

Macrobiotic Zen - The name pretty much says it all! Paella, pasta, and more, all with a macrobiotic focus. C/ de Muntaner, 12 (Eixample Esquerra).

Velada - Vegan tapas and cocktails in a very cute space on Carrer de Ferran, 25 (Gòtic).

La Perra Verde - Very tasty vegan tapas in a pet-friendly place. The vegan cheese board is excellent! Carrer del Torrent de l'Olla, 12 (Gràcia).

Vida Cafe - A friendly neighborhood cafe with an all vegan menu, including a lunch deal. Carrer de Feliu i Codina, 24 (Horta).

Gallo Santo Barcelona

Gallo Santo - Vegan Mexican Restaurant in Gracia that really delivers. Their birria tacos are fantastic, and don’t miss their margaritas! The brunch on their Marina location is highly recommended. Carrer del Torrent de l’Olla 64 (Gracia) and Carrer de la Marina, 212 (Marina).

Wild Food - A pretty, plant-based restaurant in the stunning Casa de les Punxes. They have a good lunch deal. Av. Diagonal, 420 (Eixample Dreta).

Froots & Roots - A fun little vegan juice bar in Raval, making cold-pressed juices, plant-based dishes, and specialty coffee. Carrer Peu de la Creu, 19 (Raval).

The Vegan Corner - A cafe with all the traditional local pastries and baked goods, but all plant based! Carrer d’Ataulf, 6 (Gòtic).

Pötstot - A both gluten-free and vegan restaurant with beautifully executed local classic dishes. C/ de València, 204 (Eixample Esquerra) and Carrer de Pintor Fortuny 32 (Raval).

Veganashi - They first started out as a delivery, and have now opened a restaurant, serving vegan sushi. C/ Lleida 33 (Poble Sec).

Flax+and+Kale+Barcelona

Esnaf Barcelona

Esnaf Barcelona - This friendly lunch take-away always offers vegetarian and vegan options. They change their menu every week, and it’s always packed with seasonal ingredients. It’s different, colourful, and delicious. You can sit down by the tables on the pedestrian street outside if you wish. Carrer de Roc Boronat, 102 (Poblenou).

Rangoli - Located in Barceloneta, this Indian restaurant has gone under the radar for many. But their chef-driven cuisine is delicious, offering Indian street food highlights a d fun drinks, both with and without alcohol. Pg. de Joan de Borbó, 78 (Barceloneta).

Metl - This authentically Mexican spot with very talented chefs first worked for years as a food truck, and finally they’ve decided for a brick-and-mortar in Poblenou. They have very thoughtful and delicious vegan options on their menu. Carrer Llull 57 (Poblenou).

Las Muns - Tasty empanadas with three different vegan/vegetarian versions. (Various locations around the city).

Messie+sin+Gluten,+Barcelona

Messie Sin Gluten - This pizza restaurant is 100% gluten-free, and has good vegan options, including pasta. Carrer de Muntaner 109 (Eixample) and Carrer de Siracusa 15 (Gracia).

La Clote - Plenty of vegan options like pizzas and burgers. Carrer del Clot 49 (Clot).

Green+and+Berry+Barcelona

Honest Greens - This addition to the healthy food scene offers plenty of fun plant-based options. The food is fresh and tasty, it’s fun, innovative and their restaurants are pretty and laid back. Read my review on Honest Greens here. They have several locations around the city.

Chennai+Masala+Dosa+Barcelona

Chennai Masala Dosa - They specialize in South Indian food, and have numerous vegan and vegetarian options. Everything is made in-house and with lots of love. Their dosas are addictive. Read my review of Chennai Masala Dosa here. Carrer de Galileu 326 (Les Corts)

EatMyTrip - A cute brunch spot with dishes made with a lot of love, and with many tasty vegan and vegetarian options.  Read all about it here. Various locations.

Bembi - A classic Indian restaurant (one of the first in Barcelona) with a top-notch chef. They have good vegan and vegetarian options on their menu. C. del Consell de Cent, 377 (Eixample Dreta).

Flexbowls - Bowls for breakfast and lunch, and tasty cakes, smoothies, and juices. Carrer de la Diputació 289 (Eixample Dreta).

Green Shots - Good for takeaway, with fresh juices and lunches for the office. Carrer de París 201 (Eixample Esquerra).

All You Eat is Love - A terrific lunch deal can be had at this healthy place. I love their bowl with a Japanese flair! Carrer de la Marina 52 (Poblenou).

A+Tu+Bola+Barcelona

A Tu Bola - Balls, balls, balls! It might sound funny but trust me, it's all so good. Many good vegetarian and vegan options. Read my blog post on A Tu Bola here. Carrer de l’Hospital 78 (Raval).

Tandoor - such a cool Indian restaurant, and the food is so tasty you want to cry a little. At least half of the menu is vegetarian. Read more here. Carrer d’Aragó 8 (Eixample Esquerra).

Caravelle Barcelona

Caravelle - This cool diner has very, VERY good veggie options: they make sure it’s not just an afterthought but actually exciting. Read my review here. Carrer del Pintor Fortuny 31 (Raval).

Bon Barcelona - Nutrient-rich salads, warm dishes, bowls, soups, quiches and desserts on Enrique Granados 135 (Eixample Esquerra). Most dishes are vegan or vegetarian. Instagram: @bonbarcelona.

Mosquito Tapas / Grasshopper Ramen They have good vegetarian and vegan options in their establishments. Carrer dels Carders (Born).

Vegan+cinnamon+rolls+Demasie+Barcelona

Demasie - These guys are experts on cinnamon rolls and plenty of other flavored rolls, and they also do a mean vegan roll. Various locations.

Chök+Barcelona

Chök - This place is paradise for a chocolate lover, AND they have great vegan options (and a shop that’s fully gluten free)! They have several locations in the city. Read more about Chök here.
